Sheffield Steelers v Fife - why you should see this one

Steelers v Fife

Will Sheffield's form improvement carry though to a home date with Fife Flyers?

1: Sunday will be the very first time these two teams have seen each other this season – also the Flyers are who the Steelers have been drawn against in the quarter finals of the Challenge Cup – the Steelers need the points against all of their cross conference rivals especially at home.

2: Have the Steelers turned the corner? You can only find out by watching the club this weekend. Many think that the victory over Coventry followed by the great road win over the Nottingham Panthers has injected that much needed ingrediance – confidence. The arrival of Guillaume Desbiens followed by the return of Levi Nelson and Zack Fitzgerald seems to have boosted Steelers – they have three balanced lines that can all do damage – so is the best yet to come?

3: Paul Thompson made a brave decision – one maybe the rest of us wouldn't have had the bottle to make – leaving out a club legend, Jeff Legue against Nottingham. His replacement Chris Lawrence was outstanding – has he earned himself a premanet place not only in the squad but on the team alongside the impressive Nelson and Dowd? Another big weekend from the big man and Lawrence will be a permanent fixture.

4: The battle of the goalies. Tyler Plante is getting closer to a full time come back – just at the same time as replacement Marek Pinc is finding form. Pinc wasn't at fault for any of the goals against at the weekend, another great double performance gives Paul Thompson one of those nice headaches.

5: Guillaume Desbiens – the Steelers new forward. Big powerful, exciting and as we saw or Sunday, explosive with a clinical finish. Has his inclusion given the Steelers that extra boost they need to challenge for the top spot?
