Rockware sit two points off the top of Bassetlaw Division Six, after returning to winning ways at home to Farnsfield.

Th visitors to Sandy Lane elected to bat, and made a cracking start through openers Mat Stewart and Sam Robinson.

But Rockware picked up two quick wickets when Stewart (31) mistimed a hook and was caught by Daz Bell off the bowling of Kyle Wesley, and Alex West (10) could only fend a short delivery from Greg Atherton into the hands of Rich Eccles.

Farnsfield reached 102-2 at the halfway stage and when captain Carl Lake took the vital wicket of Paul Delaney (33) the Glass looked dangerous.

Evergreen seamer Andy Bell recorded figures of 5-16 from his nine overs, including veteran Christopher Smith who he trapped plumb lbw for a golden duck.

A final wicket for Kev Cookson saw the visitors finish on 146.

The understrength Rockware line-up saw Ady Bateman promoted to opener, and a short but entertaining knock from Bateman saw him blast 14 with three swings of the bat, including a giant six over mid-on, before he was bowled.

Up stepped Rich Eccles who, after grandfather Johnny and father David, is the third generation to represent the club.

A range of attacking shots saw him reach 66 before being caught, and his valuable partnership with Atherton (23) was the corner stone of the run-chase.

A slight mid-order collapse saw three quick wickets fall but Rockware would not be denied, Jake Stansbury (5*) and Dan Cookson (7*) seeing the Glass over the line for a maximum 20 points.
