Sheffield Steelers earned a point but dipped in a disappointing overtime loss at Fife, last night.
Both sides cancelled each other out in a battle of wits in a first scoreless 40 minutes.
But Levi Nelson put Sheffield ahead at 41:26, his second in two games, from Andreas Valdix and Ben O Connor.
Paul Thompson's men clung on to the narrow lead in the defensively-tight encounter - but only until 58;37 when Shayne Stockton finished off a move from ex Steeler Russ Moyer and Evan Bloodoff, after the Scots pulled off their goalie for the extra skater.
That took the game into overtime.
And that only lasted nine seconds when Bloodoff snapped in the winner for Todd Dutiiaume’s men.
Fife's man of the match award went to Andy Iles, the goaltender who stopped 26 shots at in Kirkcaldy..
Sheffield's man of the match was Matt Marquardt.
It was Steelers second successive League defeat, and a further slap in the face after a rollercoaster week, which saw Colton Fretter banned for six games for an incident the previous Sunday.
Coach Paul Thompson said he'd been pleased with the road-game mentality, up until the late equaliser.
