Lindrick Golf Club played a major part in Yorkshire’s victory over old Roses rivals Lancashire at Selby Golf Club.
The Worksop course provided three of the 12 man squad who won the derby match at Selby Golf Club.
In this, their latest match in the Northern Counties League, Yorkshire had Lindrick’s Daniel Wasteney, Joe Dean and Jonathan Thomson representing.
In the morning foursomes, Dean and Thomson overcame their Lancashire opponents by 3&1 and Wasteney won his game by 3&2 in partnership with Jamie Bower from Meltham GC.
Going into lunch with a healthy lead of 4.5 points to 1.5 points, Yorkshire were full of optimism for the afternoon singles with the prospect of a first win over Lancashire in this fixture since 2011.
In the afternoon, lead-off man and England B International Wasteney made short work of his opponent Mark Young (Longridge GC) by 6&4 to maintain his 100 per cent winning record.
Thomson also played a significant part in the singles tussle when he managed to fight back from being one down on the 18th tee to Ciaran Doherty from Bury GC to record a valuable half point for his county team.
Yorkshire ran out overall winners by 11points to seven, which puts them firmly in the driving seat this season in pursuit of their first Northern Counties League Championship since 2010.
In the next round of matches, Yorkshire have an away encounter on 12th July against Cumbria, hosted at Workington Golf Club.
Lancashire, meanwhile, will have to pick up the pieces and try to return to winning ways as they take on Durham at Preston Golf Club.
