Ladies maintain their league promotion hopes

Worksop Ladies III kept their promotion hopes alive, with a 3-0 win against Notts Players.

Worksop took charge from the start but could not find the back of the net.

Late in the first half the deadlock was broken by a fantastic cross from Sophie Hughes which was knocked in by Rebecca Prudence.

The second goal soon followed thanks to a perfect strike from Sam Badger who left the keeper no chance to save.

Nott’s Players came back in the second half and had their own chance to get back in the game but were denied by goal keeper Jackie Rhodes and an off the line save from defender Mia Green.

The final goal came from a ball cleared from defence to Tina Booth who set up Rebecca prudence for her second goal.

Worksop spent most of the game camped in the oppositions half and kept another clean sheet.

This week’s Player of the Match was awarded to Captain Kate Cox.

Worksop II beat Southwell Brincliffe United II 2-1.

Worksop played a confident passing and keeping possession game.

Worksop’s goals came from Fiona Webb and Alex Palmer.

Chris Hindley had an outstanding performance and was awarded Player of the Match for her efforts.

Worksop Ladies II have to beat West Bridgeford on Saturday to make certain of promotion to the Premier.

The Ladies first team beat Ashfield Aztecs away 1-0.

Worksop had the majority of the possession but could not find the back of the net.

The only goal of the game eventually came from a short corner and a brilliant bit of trickery from Tracy Fuller.

Fuller received the ball from a short corner push out, dodged right, dodged left and then right again, beating two defenders and creating the space and time to fire home a bullet of a shot .

Player of the match was awarded to central midfielder Caz Butcher.
