Sutton’s Jono Hartley was narrowly beaten in the final of the English Blackball Pool Federation (EBPF) Senior National Singles as Worksop’s Kevin Seaman retained his title at The Towers, Mansfield.
The venue was also honoured to host the EBPF Masters National Singles.
Seaman had won his first two matches before beating highly-rated Billy Morton, of Warkwickshire, in the semi-final.
Fellow county player Hartley beat Rich Green, of Derby 6-4, on his way to the final.
Seaman, who has had world and European success in the past, and Hartley, a Nations Cup singles winner, produced a great final.
Hartley went 3-0 ahead before Seaman made it 3-2.
Hartley extended his lead again to 4-2 but the Worksop man fought back to level at 4-4.
Hartley went ahead again only for Seaman to take the next two legs to retain the title.
In the national masters singles, Gary McLeod, from Nottinghamshire, got to the semi-finals, beating some good players along the way including Steve Wooder, of Teeside 5-3.
The final was contested by Andy Appleton, of West Yorkshire, and Graeme Witton, from Teeside.
Appleton came out on top, winning 5-3.
