Harriers’ winter season takes off with cross country races

The winter season got into full swing for the Worksop Harriers, with the first mini league cross country event at Kirkby-in-Ashfield.

The Harriers didn’t quite manage to field a complete team, but nevertheless there were some encouraging results.

Under 11 girls – 1,500m: Freya Dolby (3rd, 5:09), Olivia Hare (8th, 5:29), Mia Swindell (9th, 5:30), Teegan Page (21st, 6:08), Lauren Kirk (22nd, 6:09), Molly Hind (27th, 6:20), Katrin Irvine (31st, 7:26).

Under 11 boys – 1,500m: Henry Dickinson (20th, 6:03), Riley Lockwood (21st, 6:05), Hugo Lockwood (23rd, 7:59), Jack Cropper (24th, 10:01).

Under 13 girls – 2,000m: Erin Lonsdale (7th, 7:18), Lucy Forrest (25th, 8:07), Lucy Easton (30th, 8:51), Olivia Gallager (32nd, 8:56), Laura Betts (33rd, 8:58),Tyler Philips (34th, 8:59).

Under 13 boys – 3,000m: Laith Gladwin (12th, 11:35).

Under 15 girls – 3,000m: Emma Greaves (16th, 13:37), Amelia Harrop (17th, 13:48), Victoria West (19th, 13:53).

Under 15 boys – 4,000m: Josh Charters (7th, 14:06), Nathan Langley (8th, 14:11).

The next race is at Kings Park, Retford on Sunday.

The Harriers competed in a number of other events, with Nigel Dawber achieving his club gold standard for an over 60-year-old in the Yorkshire Marathon with a time of 3:36:50.

Despite his marathon effort last weekend Jon Stott paired up with Craig Cooper for the challenging Gruesome Twosome half marathon, a multi terrain race around Lincolnshire Wolds where they finished 25th in 1:42:50.

Adele Bryan John Bradfinished 60th in 1:55:04.

At the Yorkshire Coast 10k at Scarborough Tom Shaw ran a personal best and club silver standard to finish in 37:11.
