WORKSOP Harriers received a big pat on the back at a national awards ceremony in Birmingham.
The athletics club were runners-up for a gong at the English Athletics Awards, having won the 2011 East Midlands Development Club of the Year award.
Worksop were pipped at the post by Sedgefield Harriers.
A club spokesman told the Guardian: “Taking second place is national recognition of the fantastic results achieved by all at the club in recent years.”
“It’s a big pat on the back for all the coaches, team captains, athletes and supporters.”
The Harriers mingled with sporting greats such as Olympic heptathlon gold medallist Denise Lewis and track legend Kriss Akabusi who were both inducted into the England Athletics Hall of Fame on the night.
