Worksop Golf Club professional Kevin Crossland and his playing partner finished just four shots off the lead at last week’s PGA Fourball Championship at St Mellion.
The 34-year-old, playing with long time friend Andrew Willey of Bulwell Forest, finished in a tie for fourth place after a final round of 72.
That followed first and second rounds of 66 and 65, and Crossland was pleased with the result.
“We had a great week overall,” he said. “It played tough in the last round, but we were leading with six holes to go and just didn’t get the breaks that you sometimes need to win tournaments.”
He and partner Willey, will return to the event next year.
Speaking after the pair landed £1,816.67 in prize money, Crossland said: “Andy is a solid player, we knitted well for the most part and we had some laughs as well through the week.”
“The course at St. Mellion is one of the best I’ve ever played, very demanding and picturesque.”
“We’re looking forward to having a go again next year.”
