Mark Foster finished three shots ahead of fellow Worksop export Lee Westwood at last week’s Dubai Duty Free Irish Open.

The event was hosted by the Rory Foundation at Royal County Down Golf Club in Northern Ireland.

Thirty-nine-year-old Foster recovered from a poor opening round of 77, six over par, to go one under par on Friday.

Two weekend rounds of 73 followed to leave him nine over for the tournament and in a share of 40th place.

Foster now moves on to the Nordea Masters at PGA Sweden National in Malmö, hoping to make the cut for the eighth time in 14 European Tour eevents in 2015.

Westwood, meanwhile, ended the first day at Royal County Down in 67th place after a three-over 75.

He was on the right side of the cut when he carded a 72 on Friday, and then signed for a 74 on Saturday.

The final round saw him secure a share of 53rd as he shot a 76, to finish 12 over par.
