Sheffield Steelers will take their fans back in time in a special night at the Arena on August 26.
The club will charge just £5 - 1993 prices - for a ‘Retro Night’ friendly against Manchester Storm.
It will be the cheapest night at Steelers since the days of Alex Dampier, Clyde Tuyl, Ron Shudra and Steve Nemeth.
They will raise the 2017 EIHL Play Off Championship Banner prior to the game, the first of the new season.
“We wanted to do something a little bit different” said operations manager Shaun Smith. “We thought we would come up with a £5 ticket for our first game back at the arena this year, we will be wearing a special Retro Steelers shirt with all 22 of them raffled off to fans on the night. Our 50-50 draw will also have an additional £2,500 added to the final prize fund, someone could walk away with £6 or £7,000 on the night.
“We want the game and banner-raising to be special, we want to fill the Arena. I don’t think there is another night out in Sheffield you can have for just £5 – we think it was 1993 since you could watch a Steelers game for just £5. Players returning from last year’s championship side deserve recognition as the banner is raised, this was the best way we thought we could encourage as many fans to the exhibition game as possible.”
Smith added: “With Manchester under new ownership and with our former player and coach Ryan Finnerty now behind the bench for the Storm we’ll make this a special Steelers night to remember”
Tickets for the Steelers Vs. Manchester Storm exhibition game on Saturday 26th August at Sheffield Arena go on sale at 9am on Tuesday 30th May.

The best reply wins a night out with Ron Shudra. Or at worst, David Simms. (Only joking.)
