A Worksop boxing club are celebrating their first ever major title, thanks to one of their brightest up and coming stars.
Teenager Elliot Holloway secured victory in Evesham in the Central England Schoolboy Development Box Cup, delighting his X Box Boxing Academy coaches and team-mates.
Holloway, 14, had to find a way past Newark’s Danny Steele in the final.
But an aggressive style and a classy overall performance saw Holloway take all three rounds to win comfortably, and become the 2015 Uni Box Central England Development champion in the 59kg weight class..
The Evesham tournament was Holloway’s second major tournament, and took his record to six wins from 11 fights.
Head coach Chris Boyle was over the moon with the youngster’s success.
He said: “Elliot is a class act and an inspiration to his team-mates.
“His success at Evesham proves that hard work and dedication to the sport reaps the rewards.”
Holloway and fellow X Box pugilist Nathaniel Firth then represented the Worksop club, based at Claylands Industrial Estate, in the Hull Box Cup.
Three years after setting up the club, Boyle is happy with the progress of his young charges.
“With the season nearly over we’ve had fighters taking part in 48 bouts, winning 26 of them,” he said.
“We have one Central England champion and another boxer who lost in a final, so it’s been a really good season again.
“We’re going from strength to strength in our third season.”
