The Worksop Harriers ladies picked up another win in the local cross country league series at Retford last weekend, consolidating their lead in the overall standings.

Meanwhile the mens team recorded their best results so far in the series, finishing in third place.

The Worksop men are just 16 points behind the winning team, from Handsworth.

The muddy 6.2 mile course was over fields and woods from Retford’s football ground.

Worksop Harriers chairman Peter Fendley thanked Retford Athletics Club for putting on a very interesting and enjoyable event and an excellent post race buffet.

He said: “It’s our first year in the league and it has all been very positive.”

“Everyone has really enjoyed themselves and it has created a strong team spirit with everyone encouraging one another.”

The Harriers first runners in both the ladies and mens race were in fifth place with Amy Ogden and Gavin Hodgeson leading the Worksop teams home.
