Five Clowne Road Runners ladies took on the challenging Trunce 8 race, on a course that featured farm tracks, hills, fields and a stream.

First home for Clowne Road Runners was Louise Lowe, in a time of 36 minutes 56 seconds.

She was followed by Lynn Lynn Hazelton (48:10), Samantha Coleclough (48:10), Suzanne Leusby (48:10) and Julie White (48:10).

The Major Stone Half Marathon saw lone runner Paul Sadler complete an undulating course around the East Riding of Hull, in a time of 1:33:58.

At the Rother Valley 5km parkrun, veteran Road Runner John Profitt produced a new personal best time of 23:58 and gained the over 70’s category record.

Other Clowne runners involved were were Gary Cadman (PB 17:20), Jordan Street (18:14), Dennis Learad (23:59), Jim McIntosh (28:12), David Burton Rollet (PB 40:25).

The 12th Ridgeway Challenge event is 86 miles along a 5,000 year old track through the Chiltern Hills and North Wessex Downs, taking in Barbury Castle and Liddington Castle en route.

With 9,000 feet of ascent this is not for the feint hearted.

Clowne’s ultra specialist Richard Hind completed the 86 miles in a time of 21:20:00, finishing in 45th place, out of total of 123 runners.

The club caters for all standards, and all ages of runners from 15 years upwards , both men and women.

Their training night is on a Thursday which starts at 7pm from the Clowne Community Centre, the club’s official home.
