Welbeck entertained Blyth Bowls in the first leg of their annual match, and lost by a narrow margin.
This first leg is played on the flat green at home and the second leg will be at Blyth on the crown green in August.
Worksop Bowls Club visited on Friday 6th June, with another close defeat for Welbeck.
Sunday saw the Welbeck’s club competition for the ‘Long Botham Cup.’
Some 34 players took part for this single two bowl match.
It is a knock competition with each leg played over 10 ends, the finalists having played 50 ends (100 bowls) in what was a very hot afternoon played an exciting close match.
The winner was club secretary Maureen Morgan by a margin of just three points. and the runner up was John Hazard.
The replica cup was presented by club captain Brian Fox.
This weekend Welbeck Village have open days with free entry and the bowlers will be there to welcome you to have a go.
