Barbarians visit for Rob

A South Yorkshire Barbarians rugby team will visit Dinnington’s Lodge Lane on Saturday, to take on the club’s veterans in a memorial match.

The clash will be played in the memory of Rob Hurdley, a former player, coach and sponsor at Dinnington who tragically lost his life in 2012.

The idea came from Doncaster Dragons vets, and other veterans teams from South Yorkshire have cancelled games in order to send players to the memorial match.

Kick-off at Lodge Lane will be at 12.30pm, and the challenge match will be followed by the Dinnington first team’s Yorkshire One fixture.

Jason Smith of Dinnington Vets, said: “Rob’s passing had a profound effect upon us.”

“The day promises to be a feast of rugby.”

“Come along and support the fixture.”
