Pitted against the best swimmers in the region, the Retford competitors continued to hone their skills to give credible performances, culminating in all five finishing the Championships in the top half of their age groups in the BAGCAT points system.

It has been an excellent Championships for 14 year-old Tom Atkinson (above).

He increased his medal tally to seven after claiming silver in the 200m freestyle.

But the thrilling highlight was being crowned the 14-year-old boys champion after finishing in the top spot in BAGCATs.

Thirteen-year-old Emma Davies’ recent successes in the 100m freestyle event saw her selected for the Nova Centurion 4 x 100m freestyle relay B team which, despite racing against a very tough field came in a respectable 12th place.
