Martial arts guru is on the shelf!

ANSTON martial arts instructor Cris Janson-Piers has divulged the secrets of a successful 30 years in combat sports, in the form of a new book.

The Dinnington Falcon Fight Academy guru’s first publication hit the shelves on his 50th birthday in August, and he’s hoping martial arts enthusiasts will snap it up as a Christmas stocking filler.

Janson Piers has documented his ‘Falcon Fight System’ – techniques and training strategies developed since he started out in Wado Ruy and Ju Jitsu and moved on to kickboxing and Muay Thai – in a book called ‘Taken from the talons of the Falcon’.

Student Kerry Louise Norbury, herself a seven-time world champion kickboxer, gave the Guardian an insight into the book.

“It is a concise manual of all areas within the system, including diet, exercise, stretching and pre-fight training,” she said.

Janson Piers runs the British Freestyle Karate and Kickboxing Organisation, is the president and national coach for WAKO Pro GB and is also the national refereeing examiner and team selector for the world governing body’s fighting team.
