Local derby opener
WORKSOP Basketball Club’s season opens on 29th September, with a local derby against Bassetlaw rivals Retford Raiders.
The game will be the first ever competitive clash between the two after Retford transferred from the Doncaster League to the Sheffield League.
Worksop then face the league’s other new boys Foulstone Flyers, Harbury Hornets and Sheffield Suns before a re-match of last season’s Plate final concludes the fixtures for the year.

Coach Steve Lawes said: “We practice regularly against the Retford lads, so both teams will know plenty about one another, but it will be interesting to see how we match up in competition.”
“It’s exciting that this game has come first and both teams are really looking forward to it.”
The game is at the EIS on Coleridge Road, Sheffield at 8.30pm.
Entry is free and all spectators are welcome.
