Horse-racing ‘Tip Of The Day’ — Sunday January 6

As with many Sundays during the winter, the best jumps racing can be found in Ireland. Here is the horse to back, according to our resident tipster.

Sunday January 6

CHAMPAGNE FEVER

Naas 1.35 WIN

If you like horses with gutsy, never-say-die attitudes, then Willie Mullins’s tough-as-teak six-year-old grey is the one for you -- as evidenced by the way he dug out Grade One Bumpers at Cheltenham and Punchestown at the end of last season. He made an electric debut over hurdles in November and although slightly disappointing when taking a huge rise in class last time, he was only beaten by the best novice hurdler seen so far this term on either side of the Irish Sea. Today’s Grade Two affair is competitive but gives the son of Stowaway the chance to return to winning ways, particularly as the step-up to 2m4f is ideal.
