Horse-racing ‘Tip Of The Day’ — Saturday December 22
Saturday December 22
ABLE DEPUTY
Haydock 12.10 WIN
Although he has been admirably consistent, this five-year-old has yet to win a race in eight attempts. But today could be the day on the evidence of his performance at Sandown last time when he got much closer to the winner (Tanerko Emery) than he had on his seasonal bow at Cheltenham, even though he was 2lb worse off. Held up in rear, he made stealthy progress before running on well and being pipped into second in a three-way go. The form is strong and has already been franked, so trainer Kim Bailey, who is enjoying something of a renaissance this season, makes the long journey to Haydock to try and take advantage. The son of Lomitas is sure to handle the heavy ground and although he’s been raised 5lb since Sandown, capable claimer Charles Greene, who has ridden ten winners for the yard, takes off a handy 7lb.
BECAUSE UK racing breaks up for Christmas after today, this is the final TIP OF THE DAY until Boxing Day. May I take this opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas!
