Horse-racing ‘Tip Of The Day’ — Friday December 7
Friday December 7
TANERKO EMERY
Sandown 3.30 WIN
At last month’s Cheltenham Open meeting, where trainer David Pipe enjoyed so much success, this well-regarded import from France was one that got away. Furthermore, he has been raised 5lb for finishing second in the novices’ handicap hurdle there. However, the five-year-old did really well to get as close as he did because, having already been given a lot to do in rear, he made a serious error at the flight at the top of the hill, which almost unshipped jockey Tom Scudamore. He still recovered to weave his way through the field and was only beaten by a very smart, progressive winner showing a genuine turn of foot. Today’s contest is a lesser race and everything is in place for him to make amends.
