Horse-racing ‘Tip Of The Day’

Our incredible run of wretched fortune continued over the weekend with THREE more close seconds. That’s five from our last six selections!

KAMCHATKA

Pontefract 2.40 WIN

This two-year-old nursery was won in 2011 by Roger Charlton’s filly Mince, who has made such remarkable progress this season that she’s developed into one of the best sprinters in the country. There’s nothing of that class in today’s renewal but the race offers a good chance for Alan Swinbank’s colt to justify his heady reputation at home and his hefty price tag of 150,000 guineas. A son of 2007 July Cup winner Sakhee’s Secret, he was strongly fancied at Haydock last time only to be bumped leaving the stalls and find things happening too quickly for him on lightning-fast ground. Now he returns to the track where he ran out an impressive winner of a maiden in August, and is reunited with his jockey from that day, Robert Winston. The colt is rated considerably better than his current handicap mark of 77.
