Six-year-old Holly Frost was only beaten in the final by last year’s British National Champion.

The Ordsall Primary pupil, who started the sport less than two years ago, trains at Scorpion Taekwondo in Doncaster.

She was in action at an event organised by Ultimate Taekwondo at Barnsley Metrodome, where she had to take on bigger, more experienced opponents.

Dad Jason explained: “She would normally compete in the Under 20kg class, but had to fight in the higher Under 23kg class.”

“This meant the competitors were older and heavier than her.”

“Her mum Tracey and I are very proud of her, she deserves the medal after training three to four times a week for it.”

Holly added: “It was hard, and they were bigger than me, but I enjoyed it.”

She lost in the battle for gold to Chelsea Culshaw of Blackwidow Taekwondo.

The next tournament for Holly will be a one-to-one event on 14th July at Doncaster Dome, where older sister Nikita will make her competitive debut.
