The talented 16-year-old has been selected in a squad of 10 to represent the East Midlands region at next month’s event in the capital.

The criterium race – over a two kilometre circuit around St James’s Park in central London – forms part of a festival of cycling on 1st and 2nd August.

Hindmarsh will take centre stage on the Saturday in the boys’ event, battling against regional teams from around the country.

And while the legendary Sir Bradley Wiggins and Mark Cavendish will be drawing the fans the following day, Hindmarsh, a rider for Broom Wagon Racing Team, wants to give the crowds an early treat first up.

“I’m really looking forward to riding around the capital,” he said.

“This will be my first time doing it. It would be good to win, that’s my aim. But it’s just good to be representing the team and doing as well as I can.

“Training has been going really well. I’ve had a couple of wins in the Mallory Park Youth League, it’s been a good year so far.

“Hopefully the Mall will be buzzing with all the fans and people cheering us on down the course.

The teenager hopes to keep progressing in the sport, until he reaches the very top.

“I definitely want to become a professional cyclist one day, that’s my aim. The Tour de France would be the ultimate dream,” he added.
