Hill sits seventh in Thundersport standings
Kiveton rider Josh Hill returned from the coast of Wales with two sixth places and now sits seventh in the Thundersport GB Motodex 600 Championship.
The teenager was out to impress, at one of his favourite circuits at Anglesey, and he believes he did that.
Speaking after a successful round seven weekend, he said: “This is great for my first year on the big 600.”
“The leaders I know test quite a lot and have just got that bit more power, but to be where I am is brilliant and I’d like to thank everyone who comes and supports me.”
The weekend began well, as the 19-year-old put his Crossroads Garage R6 bike into fifth in qualifying, just 0.3 seconds off the front row.
He said: “I’ve been so close to the front boys the last couple of rounds, it’s so fast the pace they’re setting with the pole man breaking the lap record in the process.”
“My laptime would have put me second last year.”
Full of confidence, Hill lined up in beautiful sunny conditions for race one, and after a tough start got into a battle with Paul Westerdale, who sits third in the championship standings.
Kiveton’s Hill was equal to the top three rider however, passing him for sixth place.
“Battling with Paul was a lot of run, I really enjoyed it,” he added.
With slight changes to his suspension, and a softer tyre, Hill got off to a good start in race two and picked up another sixth place.
His tally of 160 points puts him seventh out of 51 riders, with a chance of taking fifth spot before the end of the season.
Team Hill travel to Mallory Park at the end of next month.
