Holly Frost is in her first year of competition in the sport, and fights in the under 20kg class.

The six-year-old was in action at the Velodrome in Manchester, with over 600 other fighters joiner her.

The two day event included players from the British team, and Olympic medallists were the stars of the show.

And Ordsall Primary School student Holly came close to a gold medal of her own.

She missed out on the golden point rule, after finishing three 90 second rounds tied at 14-14 with Mia Hadford, who went on to win gold.

Holly started well with a couple of good three point scoring headshots and led for the first two rounds, before finishing on a level score.

Proud dad Jason told the Guardian: “Holly was pleased to get a medal but disappointed that she narrowly missed the final.”

“She was part of a team of players from Scorpion Taekwondo in Doncaster who attended the event, collecting a mixture of medals.”

“They’re coached by Pete Adamsons and Adele Deakes.”

Holly now turns her attention to an open tournament in October, organised by Chi, where she hopes to pick up another medal.

Jason added: “Her mum Tracey and I are very proud of how far she’s come in the last few months and what she has achieved. “
