Hero Longstaffe runs in six tries

DINNINGTON’S second string made a lightning quick start at home to Thorne II, and never let up.

The outcome of the game was decided within 15 seconds as Dinnington returned Thorne’s kick-off and David Longstaffe (above) ran in for the first of his six tries, five coming in the opening 40 minutes.

Thorne were a young side and were very competitive but Dinnington moved the ball quickly and when it got to Longstaffe, Thorne had no answer to his pace and strength.

Dinnington got to half-time 47-0 in the lead but eased off in the second half.

Longstaffe claimed his sixth try early in the second half and then, when injury depleted Thorne’s ranks, he was graciously loaned to the opposition.

However, Dinnington’s defence proved more resilient and he did not enjoy the same success.

Dinnington’ other points came from tries by Kenneth Parry, Michael Leitch, Antony Green and Mick Yeend with Michael Maddison kicking eight conversions.
