Westwood pips Foster in Dubai

LEE Westwood finished five places ahead of Worksop clubmate Mark Foster in the end of season Dubai World Championship on Sunday.

World number three Westwood took a share of 29th place, while Foster was one shot behind in 34th.

Lee opened with a 73, spoiled by a double bogie on the par three fifth hole.

Five birdies in round two gave him a 69, whilst seven birdies on Saturday also left him on 69.

A disappointing final round of 74 saw him drop down the field.

Mark started the event with a double bogie and closed the first round with another one for an opening 76.

He followed this with a 71 and a 70 to move up the field.

A final round of 69, included birdies at the 15th, 16th and 17th holes.

In the final standings in the Order of Merit Lee was in fifth place and Mark 32nd.

SERLBY Park Winter League Stableford No7 was won by Nick Landells and Gary Vongyer with 40 points, ahead of Nigel Dace and Craig Dudley 38, Terry Needham and John Pask 38 and Ian Hopkinson and Des Moore 38.

The Captains Waltz competition on Sunday was won by Martin Hewitt, Ian Hopkinson, Ayden Hall and Dave Smith on 84 points, from Phil Dernie, Ian Edwards, Joe Fretwell and Gary Hayward 83.
