Retford golfer Dan Brown wins Dukeries Shield

Brown beat second placed Lindrick Golf Club player Tom Osbourne by six shots.

Another impressive performance came from Retford 10-year-old George Cordall, who in his first ever competitions shot 34 points at both his home course and at Bondhay.

This week also saw the traditional start of the golfing season, with the captain’s team taking on the vice captain’s team in matchplay competitions.

Thirty-two ladies turned out on Tuesday 7th April for this closely fought event which resulted in a win for the lady vice captain Karen Hutchinson by 41/2 games to 31/2.

There will be a re-run of the event on the 13th October when the Lady Captain, Angie Dyer will be seeking revenge.
