LEE Westwood reclaimed the number two spot in world golf with a victory in the Thailand Championship on Sunday.

The Worksop man won by seven shots, thanks in part to his incredible 12 under par round of 60 on the opening day.

Victory saw him leapfrog Ulsterman Rory McIlroy in the world rankings.

Speaking after the tournament, in which he finished 22 under, Westwood said: “I’m going in the right direction, I can see a lot of improvement and I’m happy with the way I’ve finished the year, I’ve won two out of my last three events.”

“I’ll go into the winter with a lot of confidence.”
