Gold rush for gym club as 2013 season gets off to a great start

Worksop Gym Club have made a cracking start to the 2013 season, winning medals four weekends in a row.

On 3rd March Jessica Swift became the National Grade 8 champion, while Pippa Chalmers took silver.

Courtney Wood passed National Grade 7, achieving highest score of the day on vault, while Shannon Wood took silver at Regional Grade 9.

Chalmers qualified to represent the East Midlands at the British Grades finals in Birmingham on 21st April.

Next it was the turn of the younger members of the club in the Regional U8s Floor and Vault Championships.

In the boys competition Jake Barker, seven, won bronze, while Holly Belk, six, became champion and Charlotte Alcock, just five, took silver.

On 17th March the club hosted the County Floor and Vault Championships, where Grace Ally took gold, Annalise Dolby silver, and Amelia Pullinger bronze.

Millie Davison became a champion, with Aimee Mellors taking silver and Abigail Powell bronze.

Eve Draycott and Chloe Drury took gold and silver respectively at age 12/13 and an age group up Leah Goostrey and Katie Belcher also took gold and silver.

All the girls will now represent Notts at the regional finals at the end of April.

A week later the some of the youngsters were back in action in Leicester, where 10-year-old Millie Davison became Regional Champion for a second year running.

At Grade 14 Grace Ally also struck gold again and Annalise Dolby took bronze.

The Club holds regular ‘fundays’ during school holidays for children who want to try gymnastics.
