Four riders venture out

FOUR Gainsborough Aegir riders took part in a 22 mile afternoon ride.

The riders were Daniel Nicholson, Joe Smith, Trevor Halstead and Colin Smith.

They departed from The Avenue and made their way out of town crossing the Trent Bridge into Notts for a lunch stop at Saundby.

After lunch the ride resumed progressing through Saundby, Bole Corner, Sturton le Steeple, South and North Wheatley, Clayworth, Wiseston, Gringley on the Hill, Walkeringham and Beckingham.

The pleasant 22 mile ride took in breathtaking views, crossing the Chesterfield Canal at different points.

Next week’s events are: Sunday April 22nd – Leisure ride to Shirebrook using The Dukeries Trail. Meet at Roseway, Gainsborough 7.20am; Wednesday April 25th – League 15 mile and juvenile 8 mile race starting on Laughton Lane, riders should meet at 6.15pm first rider off at 6.30pm.

The 11th April’s 18-mile race took place after a heavy thunder shower.

Road conditions were wet and the wind was from the north west.

Results: 1st Jordan Skelly 52 minutes 12 seconds; 2nd Matt Hindmarsh54 minutes 31 seconds; 3rd Trevor Halstead 57 minutes 44 seconds; 4th Neil Broughton 60minutes 22 seconds.

Private Trials (Non Club Members): 1st Andy Lewin 47 minutes 56 seconds Trent Valley Road Club.

9 mile course: 1st Daniel Nicholson 28 minutes 38 seconds; 1st Liam Hindmarsh 28 minutes 38 seconds (Juvenile); 2nd Joe Noble 31 minutes 09 seconds (Juvenile).
