Former Forest footballer tells of life under the legendary manager Brian Clough...

The March event of the Gainsborough Sporting Club was attended by 102 people who were entertained by Duncan McKenzie, the ex-Nottingham Forest and Leeds footballer.

He was able to give the audience an insight into working with Brian Clough at both Forest and Leeds. He said it was very enjoyable at Forest but not quite so refreshing at Leeds.

His party piece when younger was to leap over a mini!

This was followed by comedian Gary Marshall who was extremely funny.

This month’s gallon of whisky was donated by J C Holland and Sons and was presented to Richard Coleman who collected on behalf of the winner, Mark Rayner. Mark, not being a whisky drinker, later presented it to Lea Park CC.

The last event of the season is on Thursday 19th April when the main speaker will be Willie Thorne, the ex-snooker player and now commentator. The entertainment will be provided by Venn Tracey.

Anyone wishing to attend should contact Phil Cooper on 01427 613584 or by e-mail [email protected]. The cost of tickets is £35.
