Tigers boss Craig Denton was rewarded for turning to youth to bolster his depleted ranks as they ran in three second-half goals to beat Albion Sports.
Under-19s graduates Deegan Atherton, James Gamble, Sam Jones and Jack Charlesworth were all part of the squad — with defender Atherton a starter after an impressive performance the previous week.
Midfielder Charlesworth came on for his first-team debut and also appearing as a substitute was midfielder Matty Thompson, on his return to the Tigers from Ollerton Town.
Denton said: “Young Deegan, who played right wing back at Penstone, came in as the right-sided central defender.
“It was nice to see one under-19 starting and three on the bench. It shows this football club is going places.
“We are backing out under-19 system. and they are reaping the rewards by getting them (the youngsters) in (to the first-team squad).”
Denton said the Tigers were sloppy at the start, but not conceding was a positive.
“In the second half we found an extra 20% and the lads showed everybody what they can do,” he said.
He praised the “exceptional” defence for a second successive clean sheet.
Steven Wankiewicz nodded Steve Woolley’s ball home seven minutes into the second half to break the deadlock.
Ten minutes later Connor Brunt slid home the second from a low Matt Sykes cross.
Sykes went from goalmaker to goalscorer when he converted a late penalty.
