Worksop Town Under 19s reached the final of the League Cup, with a shock 3-2 win at Mansfield Town on Monday.
It was the first time the Stags Under 19s have failed to win at the One Call Stadium this season.
The young Tigers started well, Reece Twell seeing a thumping 25 yard drive crash into the crossbar.
And it was Twell who gave Worksop a deserved lead when his scuffed shot from Rhys Davies’ cut back eluded Harry Waldram in the home goal.
However the young Stags started to pose more of a threat after the break.
And they found an equaliser just before the hour mark when Dan Fletcher beat the offside trap to latch onto Oliver Roome’s through ball before slotting the ball confidently past Tom Platts.
Worksop regained the lead on 69 minutes when Matt Robinson flicked on Josh Littlewood’s corner to Corbin Shires and he volleyed home at the back post, his first goal for the club.
The lead lasted just three minutes however, as an excellent one-two between Kevin Hemagou and Oliver Roome set up Roome to curl the ball home via the far post and make it 2-2
But Kevin Staniland’s Worksop men were not to be denied, Jordan Camm collected a long ball out of defence, beating his marker before curling the ball past Waldram for the winner.
The young Tigers were scheduled to meet Sheffield FC Under 19s in the final at Staveley Miners Welfare’s ground on Thursday (1st May) at 7.30pm.
