Worsnop promises Tigers ready to roar

JON Worsnop has issued a warning to the rest of the Evo-Stik Premier League – Tigers are ready to give someone a ‘hiding’.

The first choice stopper believes Worksop Town are capable of dishing out a real beating, after a disappointing start to 2012.

Speaking to the Guardian this week he admitted: “It’s not really panned out as we were hoping.”

“But we’re going to play someone soon and they’re going to take a real hiding from us.”

Tigers’ number one says that morale in the changing room is excellent, despite a winless start to the year.

“If you came into our changing room you’d think we were top of the league,” he said.

“We’ve got some good lads, good banter – it’s a good changing room.”

But he concedes that individual errors and a lack of experience have cost Worksop in a season that was preceded by high expectations.

“There have been a lot of individual mistakes and a few lads have had to put their hands up and say we’ve not performed.”

“You can carry one or two but you can’t carry four or five – we haven’t really dug each other out.”

“We had a bit of a dodgy start and leaked goals, and we’ve gone back to that.”

“I said to the lads the other day that I can’t remember the last time someone scored a good goal against us.”

“We’ve got a lot of young lads who are still learning their trade and I think we miss a little bit of experience – we have Huddy (Mark Hudson) and Cottee (James Cotterill) but we’re just missing another experienced head or two.”

With 14 league games remaining, Wornsop maintains that there is plenty left for Tigers to play for and predicts big things for the next campaign.

Football is a funny game, you never say never – but the play-offs are maybe a little far for us now.”

“A new manager came in earlier in the season and it’s brought a new lease of life into the side

“And everyone is playing for contracts, and if people want to be at Worksop Town Football Club next year they’ll still need to perform.”

“With one or two additions we will be a force to reckon with next season.”
