Worksop Town's James Gregory aims to haunt former club Sheffield FC

The 28-year-old made the switch from Sheffield, for whom he made over 300 appearances , in early November and has made 12 appearances since joining.

And he's enjoyed his time so far.

He said: “I’ve settled in well. It helped knowing a few of the staff and players from elsewhere, but everyone has been really welcoming.

“There are no egos, everyone works hard and there is a strong togetherness in the squad.

“It was a difficult decision to originally leave Sheffield, having been there a number of years, but it did also feel like it was the right time to move on for a new challenge.

“I was played out of position a few times and found myself on the bench a few times in the month prior to signing. It was a decision made much easier once I knew Worksop Town were interested.”

Gregory says Saturday’s game will be a tough one but knows what’s required.

He said: “We must approach the game similarly to how we approached the last home game against Market Drayton.

“We must play on the front foot, press in the right areas, and move the ball quickly.

“I’m looking forward to the game. It will be good to see some familiar faces, but more importantly as a team we want to put things right from last Saturday.

“It is an important game for both teams. We are neck and neck in the league, so a win helps to break into the top half. There’s also some local pride at stake.

“There have been a few changes in personnel since I was there, but we will have to keep Marc Newsham quiet up top. Mitchell Dunne has also returned to the club and he will be a threat. They will probably look to play to their strengths.”

In the Tigers’ last home fixture Gregory opened his account against Market Drayton, which the winger admitted was a big weight off his shoulders after a frustrating few performances.

“It was a big relief,” said Gregory. “I have had a few chances which have gone begging. I felt like the goal was needed, I felt I needed the rub of the green or a tap in to get off the mark and that is exactly what I got and it gave me a lot of confidence.

“Hopefully I can kick on now and score a few more.”
