Worksop Town winger Aaron Sennett-Neilson happy with his progress

Aaron Sennett-Neilson believes that it has been an encouraging campaign for Worksop Town and his progress as an attacker.

The gifted winger started to come into his own this season after breaking into the first team last year, playing the Tigers’ final three games before the first lockdown.

Sennett-Neilson picked out several positives from an impermanent campaign, including his development in the first team.

“I think it had been really positive so far,” said Sennett-Neilson. “I think the large amount goals we scored were particularly positive, but I thought we have done really well.

“I don’t think there was ever a performance where I thought we were bad. I think every performance that I have seen we have shown up and everyone has played fantastic, so it has been good.

“I have been with the first team pretty much the whole of the season and I haven’t really played for the Under-21s as much but, individually, I was trying to get that chance in the first team.

“I had a really good preseason and then I missed a couple of games due to reasons that couldn’t be helped.

“Apart from that, I think when I came off the bench, I played quite well and hopefully next season I can earn a few more opportunities and hopefully I can try and get some goals, get some assists, and try and get a starting spot in the first team more often.”

Sennett-Neilson also explained the positive impact that Craig Parry’s attacking philosophy has had on the youngster’s progress at Sandy Lane.

“It is really good, especially for a winger or an attacker that likes to get on the ball and play as much as I can; it is the best thing possible,” he said.

“He wants us to score more goals than the other team every single time, it is not about just playing and trying to get that 1-0 and then sit behind the ball.

“It was like when we played Chester, and we drew 2-2 and lost on penalties, but that just shows you that even when you play against a top, top side, we will just come, and boss, and we won’t change; we will come at you and try to score more goals.

“That has been a big positive for me and when I came back from the November lockdown, I felt like I had matured in my performances.”
