Worksop Town prospect looking up after promising debut

The winger, who has been excellent for the Tigers’ Under-21s side, has joined the first team squad after featuring for NCEL Division One outfit Ollerton Town for the past season and a half.

“I haven’t, really, seen many performances from Worksop before,” admitted Sennett-Neilson. “But for me, I thought my performance was alright. I could have done better in certain areas, but I have got to get used to the physicality of the men’s side – we just couldn’t get that goal that we desperately needed.

“I have been playing at Ollerton for more than a season now, it was about getting used to it there and now, playing in a division two leagues higher, I have noticed how the players are a lot quicker and a lot stronger which can be hard to deal with.”

Manager Kyle Jordan decided to tell the youngster that he would be handed his maiden start on the day of the fixture.

Sennett-Neilson added: “I literally just got into the changing rooms and found out when the side came out.

“I was quite shocked, to be fair, as I thought I would only get five or ten minutes at the end, but I am very happy to make my debut.

“I was nervous at first, but after that I was buzzing. I just love to play football, so I just wanted to get on and play as many minutes as I could and playing at this level is a massive confidence boost.

“Hopefully, I can keep it up and keep getting into the team and keep progressing. I just need to keep training, keep trying to play well and keep doing what I have been doing recently.”

Sennett-Neilson’s part in the aforementioned Under-21s side has been integral to their title-chasing campaign. The winger has helped them become a frightening attacking outlet with his experience, as the youngster has progressed through the academies at Sheffield Wednesday and Chesterfield FC.

“The Under-21s are class, every single player in the squad is class. They are one of the best teams that I have played in, they are relentless and unreal.

“Days like today show to the other lads that it can happen, and I reckon all of those lads could step up, they just need to wait for their opportunity.”
