Conor Higginson is one of over 160 people who have joined the 2015/16 Worksop Town Team500 membership scheme.
The first team player signed up on Saturday at Tesco in Worksop, where the club’s supporters hosted a stall to promote all things Team500.
Higginson renewed his membership, after first joining last summer when Tigers desperately needed members to fund their survival.
Dean Spencer, one of the fans spearheading the recruitment drive, said: “Conor paid a visit to the stand before heading to Sandy Lane, and not only did he renew his Team500 membership – he also chucked money into the raffle and bought a WTFC mug.
“I think it’s fair to say we have an absolute diamond on our hands here - stumping up yet again for a membership at the club he plays for.
“Just goes to show how much the club means to the lad, not many players would do the same at any level, let alone ours where money can be tight.”
As the Guardian went to print there were 162 names on the membership list, which would generate around £29,000 for Worksop Town.
Volunteers were out in force again at Wednesday’s game against Mansfield Town, attempting to sign up more new members.
Tesco donated a trolley of shopping for the supporters to raffle, and lucky shoppers won some Tigers merchandise, as well as a season ticket.
To join the club’s membership scheme, which is their main source of income now that the supporters pick up the bills at Sandy Lane, contact Anne Keep on 07795512902 or 01909 478178, or email email@example.com
Renewals are priced at £180, with new memberships at £200.
