The Tigers overcame conceding a first-half equaliser to beat Chasetown 3-1 and end their poor run.

Jordan admitted: “We needed a reaction after the previous two games when we weren’t good enough. We needed to win and i am delighted with the result.

“We were a little bit brave and explained we were going to shake it up a bit. The boys who have come in after waiting for a chance were brilliant.

We had a left back playing central midfield and a midfielder playing left back, which we thought worked well.

“Freddy Tracey up top was absolutely outstanding. He won his headers and held the ball up.

“’Lynnie’ (Lynton Karkach) has come in and got a goal.

Sam Jones, the under-21s captain, he was brilliant. He is more than capable of playing in the first-team week in week without.

“They have all waited for their chance, deserved their chance and have took it.”

Jordan also praised Ben Rhodes at the heart of the defence.

Karkach gave them the perfect start when he curled in an 11th minute breakthrough after the ball fell to him.

Eight minutes later George Cater shrugged off Deegan Atherton before sliding the ball under Dave Reay to level for the visitors.

But in a remarkable start to the game the Tigers went back in front just 60 seconds later when Steven McDonnell was played through before smashing his shot across the goal and into the bottom corner.

Chances came and went at both ends in blustery conditions.

Keeper Reay saved Cater’s dinked effort and then made an even better stop to get a strong hand to Liam Kirton’s curling effort.

In the 66th minute Jack Langston’s volley flashed across goal and agonisingly wide of the far post for the visitors and defender Sam Jones made a great challenge to deny Joseph Berks.

That good defending paid dividends when, three minutes from time, Pemberton curled the ball into the path of McDonnell, who calmly slotted in to secure victory.
