Second half goals by Aaron Sennett-Neilson and Craig Mitchell were coupled with terrific saves from keeper Dave Reay.

Jordan said: “It was a good performance although quality wise we were not that brilliant – but that’s what is like sometimes at this level.

“Off the back of such a dire performance last week (in the 3-1 defeat Sheffield) it is was good that we can turn it around with a massive reaction.

“The battling qualities were outstanding all over the pitch and there were some good performances quality wise.

“I was impressed with them (Chasetown). They started well and have had some massive results under new management. They were brilliant in the first half and moved the ball around really well, like a top five side.

“Yet we had two chances in the second half and scored them both. It was probably the perfect away performance. Dave Reay was exceptional again and made some big saves at important times.

“Young Aaron Sennett-Neilson came on and was outstanding, scored a goal and did everything we asked of him. He was brave enough to get on the ball.”

After a goalless first half, early substitute Sennett-Neilson gave the Tigers a 48th minute lead when he brought down Steve Rhodes’ crossfield ball, cut across a defender and drilled the ball in at the keeper’s left-hand post.

Ten minutes later the home side should have levelled when George Cater and Tigers’ keeper Reay clashed on the edge of the area and the ball bounced into the path of Will Whieldon, who somehow volleyed over an open goal.

The miss proved costly within 120 seconds as Town striker Mitchell headed home his first goal in 10 matches after Steven McDonnell had made a fine tackle to stop the ball from going out of play before jumping up and crossing.

It could have been 3-0 in the 68th minute when McDonnell’s effort was cleared off the line.

Worksop keeper Reay then took centre stage with several fine saves. The best was in the 72nd minute when his superb stop denied Cater on the volley.
