Worksop Town chairman asks fans to help fund Bassetlaw Hospital bereavement room, at tonight's '˜pay what you want' derby

Worksop Town have made tonight's derby game against Retford United a '˜pay what you want' occasion, so fans can put their money in charity buckets instead.

It will cost supporters a fee of their choice tonight at Sandy Lane, with the minimum for entry just £1.

And with a few extra quid in their pocket, Tigers chairman Kev Keep hopes to trigger generosity for a very worthy local cause – the funding of a bereavement room for parents at Bassetlaw Hospital.

He said: “I would like to ask the people of Worksop and Retford to turn out in numbers in support of the fundraiser we have arranged at the derby game.

“Whether you’re a Badger or a Tiger please come along and support both teams and show your support for the collection that will help build a much needed private room for parents of still born babies.”

A couple who suffered tragedy last year are spearheading the fundraising attempts.

Keith and Emma Hampson lost their baby daughter Evelyn Barbara when Emma was 37-weeks pregnant in January 2015.

The loving Bircotes pair are attempting to use their situation to do something for other people in a similar position.

It is thought the total cost for the development of a bereavement room is £35,000.

The match at Sandy Lane kicks off at 7.45pm.

The two sides drew 2-2 the last time they met, in a dramatic game at Cannon Park in Retford.
