Worksop Town boss Mark Shaw after positive response to Rainworth drubbing

Curtis Woodhouse’s side have won their last eight NCEL Premier Division fixtures to fire themselves up to fourth place in the table.

And with the Rainworth result still troubling Shaw, he wants his side to show how much they care as they head to the coast.

He said: “I still think the result was harsh on us last week as we were punished for four mistakes and also didn’t have the luck in front of goal.

“But it hurt me and it hurt the players and I want them to go out and show the fans that they care and that they can perform in the face of adversity.

“Consistency has been a key problem for us this year but we’d gone four unbeaten before the Rainworth game and now have to try and put another good run together.”

Bridlington’s form has seen them jump from relegation candidates to being just eight points behind leaders Cleethorpes with a game in hand, and Shaw knows a tough test is in store.

He said: “I know Curtis Woodhouse well and he’s done an incredible job there. He gets in amongst his players and really makes them tick so it’ll be tough for us as they will really be at it.

“But we have to stand up and be counted and make sure we do the right things and don’t make silly mistakes like last weekend. If we do that we can be very hard for anyone to beat.

“We’ve not had much luck this season with some of the results we’ve had and could do with the rub of the green going our way a bit more. I felt the players after last week but now the team that takes to the field at Bridlington has to show the heart and desire to want to put that result behind them.”
