Worksop Town boss is happy with his start at Tigers

Boss Craig Parry is happy with how he has started at Worksop Town.

Parry’s side sit in sixth place as the league takes a temporary hiatus due to the second lockdown, with the Tigers winning four and drawing two of their opening seven league games.

“I’m pleased with how we have started; I do think there is a lot more to come from us,” said Parry.

“I do think we keep reminding people that although we brought in a lot of players from our previous job, it is still a new environment, with new expectations, and it is going to take time.

“We still have some building blocks to put in place, but, overall, I am pleased to be sat in the position that we are currently in.

“We have faced teams such as Belper [Town] and Stamford away from home and there are still a lot of the top eight that we still need to play.

“I am pleased with how the boys have adapted themselves, but there is still a long way to go; we are not the finished article by a long stretch, but I am happy with how we have begun and after the second lockdown, I hope we kick on again.”

The Worksop boss also praised the Tigers’ fanbase for their welcoming attitude and positivity, especially in last weekend’s FA Trophy exit.

“I think the fans have been the most pleasing thing for me since we took over,” he continued.

“Before I came here, I had many former players and managers tell me it would be the best club that I would probably manage in front of regarding the fans and how passionate they would be with the great support that they provide.

“They were there last Saturday [against St Neots Town] when the lads were down to nine men and against a side that had everything on their side.

“It was just so heart-warming and I was full of joy to see a set of fans so loyal and loud, and cheering everyone on to support the players, even after the players were up against it and everything was going against them like it was on Saturday.

“They have been fantastic so far and I hope at the end of the season I can give them the success and joy that they deserve.”
