Handsworth goals came from Aaron Moxon and Stephan Warne after falling behind to an early Tigers goal which was scored by Jack Waddle.

Worksop started the more brightly and scored in the second minute after some neat link up play. Mitch Husbands turned the defender on the edge of the visitors box squaring the ball to Adam Scott, Scott slid the ball into the path of Waddle who neatly tucked his shot past the on-coming keeper Gary Stevens.

Handsworth came more into the game and in the 16th minute struck the post after a dangerous free kick was swung in to an unmarked William Eades whose header struck the right hand post of the Worksop goal.

The Tigers produced the best move of the first half, Daniel Booth played a ball out wide to Leon Loftus who flicked the ball past the defender to the on rushing Kyle Jordan, but unfortunately Jordan drilled a low shot into the hands of the Handsworth keeper.

After nearly falling two behind the visitors drew level in the 37th minute courtesy of a great run by Connor Smyth into the Worksop box. Smyth squared the ball to an unmarked Moxon who tapped in the equaliser.

Worksop nearly took the lead before half time after a great ball by Waddle to Scott, Scott was 20 yards out and hit a sweet shot that went into Handsworth keepers hands.

Handsworth took the lead just after the second half, there was controversy about whether the goal should have stood. The ball came into the box and there seemed to be a foul on the Tigers keeper Jon Kennedy from Stephen Warne. However the referee didn’t give the free kick and Warne put the ball in the back of the net to give the visitors the lead.

After the goal Handsworth made it difficult for Worksop to get back into the game. It got even worse when substitute John Fusco got taken off in the 77th minute, for an injury and was replaced by Jack Hawkins.

However there was controversy in the 90th minute, the ball came into the Handsworth box and the ball seemed to hit the hand of a Handsworth defender but there was no penalty given.

Worksop are now looking to avoid a fourth straight defeat away at Armthorpe Welfare FC on Saturday. After losing to Cleethorpes Town, AFC Mansfield and Handsworth Parramore.
