Worksop girls draw at home

Girls U11s football

Dodworth 2

A LAST minute goal from Jamie-lea Grace rescued a point for Worksop in a thrilling match.

The visitors started the better and Jamie Farrar had to make a string of amazing reaction saves, which seemed to spur the rest of her team on.

Despite a midfield battle Denva Kirk’s tackle allowed Chaniece Howson to play in Grace to beat two defenders and finish smartly in the bottom corner.

The battle continued with Georgia Hunt and Krysten Brown kept strong and aware.

At the start of the second half Worksop were caught sleeping and the visitors grabbed and equaliser.

The half wore on and despite Worksop dominating they found themselves 2-1 down.

Worksop created chance after chance and some how the visitors were hanging on. The home side were getting stronger and coach Mark Clarke kept rotating the girls keeping them fresh.

It was clearly paying off and a pass from Kirk allowed Howson to cross for Grace to squeeze in from what looked an impossible angle shot to claim her 43rd goal of the season with six seconds of the game remaining.

Star player award: Denva Kirk.
