Wins for three Trinity junior sides, as Williams hits five

Both teams put a lot of effort in, with Ben Wray Mark Raisborough and James Caldwell all having excellent games at the back and soon snuffing out any attacks from Frod.

The first half ended goalless, and Trinity began the second period well, the midfield getting to every ball first.

They were soon rewarded for their efforts when Oliver Cummins’ through ball found Tom Forbes who chipped the keeper for a fine opening goal.

Frodingham tried to get back into the game, but the young Trinity squad all played out of their skins and all worked for each other .

With Spencer Hare and Sean Potts holding play, Frod could not break them down.

The Trinity Under 15s made it five wins from five outings with a 7-2 victory at home to Park Tigers.

In poor weather conditions Trinity took the lead in the opening minutes when Tom Williams beat two Park Tigers to shoot into the roof of the net.

He soon made it 2-0 when the ball broke to him in the box to stab home.

On the stroke of half-time Williams got his third when Daniel Krakow went down the flank and squared it to him.

Trinity raced out the blocks early in the second half and a long ball over the top found Williams who fired past the keeper.

Incredibly he got his fifth when the Tigers keeper spilled the ball.

Tigers got on the scoresheet when Trinity failed to clear, but Gainsborough hit back through Krakow’s turn and shot.

A second from Tigers was cancelled out as Robert Caldwell got his first goal in nearly three years.

A hat-trick from in-form striker Elliot Vasalo kept Gainsborough Trinity Under 12s top of the Jack Kalson league, as they beat App Frod Saints 3-2.

Vasalo grabbed his first after chasing down a through ball.

His second arrived 10 minutes later after some great passing football from the Trinity midfield put him through and he skillfully put his shot around the keeper.

The visitors managed to grab one back soon after when Trinity failed to clear the ball at the back and the Saints striker powered a shot which keeper Connor Merrill could only parry.

The rain fell constantly throughout the game which made playing conditions harsh, but this wasn’t an excuse for some of the shocking tackles that were coming in from the Saints players.

Trinity, who switched keepers at the break, began the second half well as skipper Brad Hardy dominated the midfield and Evan Butcher, Brad Hill and Archie Clayton played some exquisite football .

At the back Nathan Randall, Max Marshall-Malone and Jack Harker snuffed out the Saints forwards and it wasn’t too long before Trinity grabbed their third.

Elliot Vasalo showing some great control in the box and with his back to goal turned brilliantly and fired a shot which gave the keeper no chance.

Saints grabbed a second to set the game up for a thrilling last 10 minutes.

Trinity could have got a fourth when Vasalo’s shot went agonisingly wide, but Trinity held out for the win with another great team performance, making their manager happy once again.
