Wind ruins Division One clash at Greendale Oak

Sunday’s only Worksop Division One game was ruined by the windy conditions, both Langold Old Boys and Greendale Oak struggling.

The two sides shared the spoils after a 1-1 draw.

Playing against the wind in the first half, the Dale played some attractive football but failed to test Fisher in the home goal.

Against the run of play, Langold took the lead when Ibberson and Turner both missed a routine long ball - allowing the forward to nip in and beat Jepson.

But for some last ditch defending Langold could have gone further in front until a precise through ball from Kirkwood released Pywell who calmly lobbed Fisher.

The second period was a dull affair as the wind took hold and reduced the game to a lottery.

Chambers should have put the Dale ahead but was denied by a brilliant Fisher save.

Langold almost stole it at the death but we’re denied by two brave blocks from Lake.

The draw was probably a fair result but does neither side any favours.
